TISEM operates in the area of wooden construction and sustainability, being qualified advisors for the BREEAM system, Passive House designers and suppliers of solutions with a construction system using CLT wooden panels (KLH representation). CLT panels are made up of solid wood lamellas, allowing the construction of walls, floors and roofs and accumulating structural, compartmentalization and covering functions, being delivered to the site in the final project dimensions.
The great potential in terms of sustainability relates to both the reduction of energy required for construction (production of materials and execution on site), and the reduction of energy during the exploration phase, due to the great energy efficiency of the construction system. There is also the mitigation of carbon emissions due to the fact that wooden buildings increase long-term carbon sequestration, replace other more carbon-emitting and energy-consuming materials (e.g. steel, aluminum, concrete and masonry), stimulate planting more trees and increasing the forest area.
