Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW) has many diverse origins: material production; losses in storage and transportation; maintenance; demolition.

The best way to manage CDW is, above all, to avoid it. Consequently it becomes necessary to reuse and recycle as much as possible and to avoid incineration and landfilling.

The amount of construction waste produced and its eventual recycling depends mostly on the type of construction materials and techniques used as well as the management of construction works, project specification and skilled labour.
